Time for Thinking of Others: Whilst we may be enjoying a sense of well- being, so many others in our world are suffering. Lord, in our times of plenty help us to show compassion to the victims of disaster, those caught in floods, earthquakes, in wars and terrorist attacks, those who suffer hunger. Forgive us for the times we ignore the plight of the needy. Help us to be generous of heart. Amen

Adoration: There is Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament after 9.30 am Mass on Fridays. Please don’t be a stranger make a quick visit. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 12.45 pm.

FAS Vacancy: A vacancy exists in the Millennium Centre for a FAS worker to do 19½ hours work per week. Applicants must qualify for Community Employment Scheme and meet specific eligibility criteria. If interested please contact FAS to check eligibility and forward your application to the Millennium centre, The Square, Caherconlish on or before Friday 30th July.

Tennis Camp for Children Special Offer: Shreddies ® Parks Tennis camp for 6 - 17 years has been going on at Caherconlish Tennis Club for the past two weeks from 2.00 – 4.00 pm on Monday – Friday. A once-off special offer is available for the next two weeks: the rate has been reduced to €20 for 8 sessions from Monday 26th July – Thursday 5th August i.e. €2.50 per lesson. To avail of this special offer just show up on Monday to register.

Caherline G.A.A: The 2010 Cul Camp, hosted by Caherline G.A.A., took place in Caherline G.A.A. field recently, with 48 children between the ages of 6 and 12 in attendance. The reports from the kids are all positive with the general consensus being that this was the best Camp yet. Special thanks to Clubman and Cul Camp Co-Ordinator John Hickey who did a fantastic job all week making sure it all ran smoothly, also to Declan Long who also helped keep the show on the road. Thanks also to County Board Coach Ollie Coffey,and his 3 Coaches, Dinny Maloney Doon, Ger Fitzpatrick Monaleen and Aoife O'Malley Cappamore who did a brilliant job providing fun and sport for the children of the Parish all week.
The minor hurlers had convincing win over Granagh-Ballingarry last week on a scoreline of 4-13 to 7pts. Our Intermediates were knocked out of this years Championship last weekend when Ballybrown proved too strong, winning comfortably on a scoreline of 2-13 to 5pts. Caherline finished third in their group, thus avoiding the relegation semi-finals. On Monday night in a much tighter game, our U21's battled hard before eventually losing out to St.Kevins (South Liberties/Fedamore) in the East U21 final. Caherline’s U12's play Kilteely/Dromkeen next Thursday, and our U16's are up against Hospital/Herbertstown in the County Semi-final at 7-15 on Monday evening in Kilteely. Best of luck to all involved.
U6 to U12 hurling training continues this Friday at 6 sharp. Please bring your helmet and a correct sized hurley.

Caherconlish Gaelic Football Club: Our U12 played a football match last Thursday evening in our own field against Galtee Gaels. They put in a great performance in desperate weather conditions and were very unlucky to go down by the narrowest of margins. Our U10 played a blitz on Saturday morning in Kilteely even do we were short several players due to holidays they did very well and can be very proud of themselves. U6 U8 U10 and U12 football training on Friday evening in the GAA Field. U6 and U8 training from 7-00 to 7-30 and U10 and U12 training from 7-00 to 7-45..
Our U12 play Knockainey on Thursday evening in our own field. Please be there no later than 7-50.
The U12 wore the new set of jerseys for the first time on Thursday evening and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors, Myles Heelan (Agriculture and Landscaping Contractor), Mary Cussen (The Tower Pub), Robert Mulcahy (Mulcahy’s Bar), Donald Riordan (Uncle Tom’s Bar), Paul Kennedy (Spreadwell Plastering), Pat O’ Dea (Building Contractor), and also thank you to those who gave anonymous donations.
World Youth Day: World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid from August 16 – 21. Over 2 million young people expected to attend. There might be people from Caherconlish wanting to attend. You might want to try http://www.madridwyd2011.comFacebook and connect with others about it and share ideas.
Annual Mass in Inch St Laurence Cemetery: The annual open-air Mass for our deceased relatives and
friends will be celebrated in Inch St Laurence cemetery on Friday 6th August at 7.30 pm. This is an opportunity to remember and pray for our faithful departed. A collection will be taken up on the night to help towards the upkeep of our cemeteries.

Caherconlish-Caherline Senior Citizens Outing: This year’s outing will on Tuesday 17th August to Japanese Gardens, National Stud and Newbridge. Those who wish to travel please give your names to any of the following before Sunday 8th August: Kitsy Hickey (P.O) - 351201, Marie Merrick –351358, Nancy Connolly – 351219. This year only one bus will travel so early booking is advisable as places will be reserved on a “first- come” basis.

Millennium Centre Activities
Supervised Disco: Following the success of the disco held earlier this month, another one has been arranged at the Millennium Centre on Friday 30th July for 12-16 year olds. Time 9.00 -11.30 p.m. DJ Froggy. Admission €10.00. Mineral Bar.

Wednesday Club: On Wednesday next our club activities will start at 1.00 pm. Mass will be celebrated at 1.30 pm in the Millennium Centre. This will be followed by usual activities. After this week we will be taking a Summer recess for the month of August.

Ger Stack Irish Dancing Classes: There is a break from dance classes until further notice.
Tuesday Night Dance Classes: Dance classes for beginners from 8.00 pm onwards and social dancing to midnight. All are welcome.
Tuesdays & Fridays: Tae Kwan Do classes from 7.00 – 9.00 pm both nights. For information contact Will Power 0857079502

Card Game: Our weekly game of “45” takes place on Friday night from 9.00 pm.

Tennis Club: Membership fees are now due for current year. To comply with insurance requirements you must be a registered member to use the courts. For further information contact the Millennium Centre. This is a great facility on the edge of the village but unfortunately it is lying idle most of the time. We would encourage people to become members and enjoy a game of tennis.

Country Market: There will be no indoor market at the Millennium Centre this month or in August. The situation will be reviewed in September.
